VH: Congratulations on reaching the Sales Manager position with Vendor House John. You were able to accomplish this in only a few weeks. Tell me, how did you reach sales manager so quickly?
JC: Simply put, it was a matter of sharing Vendor House with people. The model of share, show, and invite is not only a process that works it is also a process that demonstrates respect for others. There are those in other home-based businesses and in various sales positions that teach their business builders to manipulate and pressure people - they call it posturing. With Vendor House, this isn't our model. Jesus didn't manipulate or pressure people into the Kingdom of God. Instead, He declared the value of people, shared with them the good news, and let them make a decision about the direction of their life. That is what we are doing. We are declaring the value of people, sharing the good news about how people can benefit from this incredible business opportunity, and then allowing them to make an informed decision about whether or not they want to join our community. It really is that simple. However, just because it's simple doesn't mean it is without effort. The key is that you have to be willing to share Vendor House with others.
VH: What inspired you to join Vendor House?
JC: There are at least three things that inspired me to get started. First, I bought into the vision and the opportunity. I believe in the Biblical model of Acts 2 where the early church came together and shared goods with one another. There is tremendous power when a community of people come together for a common purpose. When this happens lives are transformed. This is the vision that drives the business model. The internet gives the common person opportunity that has never been possible in days gone by and it truly levels the playing field. Put this in the context of a home-based business and we find the ingredients for an explosive opportunity!
Second, after learning of the leadership of Vendor House I knew this is the winning team I wanted to be on. You can have the best business model and the greatest product but if you don't have the right people leading the way there won't be any success. We have the right people. Trace Colson and Jim Ball have successfully built a network in the past of over 7,000 people in about three years. The president of our company, Scott Swoboda, and his team of developers have proven that they have tremendous abilities and skills with web development. In fact, they have an outstanding track record of six years! Our leaders understand people and understand what it takes to be successful in business. Couple this with the fact that everyone on the leadership team has remarkable character and integrity and you have the workings of a team that I consider to be a "championship team".
Third, the low start up cost was significant. It took very little money to get started which translates into very low risk. When you can have low start up cost with a compensation plan that gives tremendous upside potential it eliminates the obstacles of getting started. What more can I say about that. I think this speaks for itself.
VH: Obviously, you understand the power of building a team and a network in your business. In your own words tell us why you think it is important to build a team or network in your Vendor House business?
JC: What is one thing all of us have in common? We all lead busy lives. When I build a network I know that I am leveraging the time of others. There is nothing wrong with this. The business model rewards me for helping others and then benefiting from their efforts.
Think about it. When someone goes to work for their employer, what is that employer doing? That employer is leveraging the time of his/her employees so that the employer can accumulate wealth. Sam Walton didn't build Wal-Mart alone. Instead, he leveraged the time of many people to build a great empire. Here's the kicker. The greeter at Wal-Mart doesn't have the same opportunity that Sam Walton had. That greeter is told how much they will make. Sure, there may be room for promotions but there is a ceiling. With a business like Vendor House the opportunity is the same for every person and there isn't a ceiling. It really makes sense.
I want to help people. My goal is to help people make a car payment, pay their mortgage, etc. An extra $300 a month for most people would make a huge difference in their life. Here's the thing. With Vendor House people CAN make $300, $500, or more per month. It doesn't happen without effort but if people are willing to put in the effort and are coachable, they can do this.
However, the help doesn't just stop with finances. When people engage Vendor House and join a community of people like what we have, personal growth is the outcome. The bottom line is this. I want to help people by adding to the quality of their life financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Vendor House is a vehicle that allows me to do this.
VH: What do you see in Vendor House that is different from other home based business or network marketing opportunities?
JC: For one thing, we have a different kind of message. We have a viable business that can generate real income for people. However, our message isn't just about obtaining wealth for our own personal benefit. Some of the most miserable people in the world are those who have the most wealth. Compare the wealth of any American to people in other countries and we would be amazed at how wealthy even the poorest American is. If wealth alone can increase the quality of life then why is it that America has some of the highest suicide rates in the world? The reason is complex but perhaps one answer is that most Americans have bought into the lie that money and possessions bring meaning and purpose. In America we have tremendous wealth and yet masses of people are living without any meaning and purpose.
Many home based businesses feed this ugly monster. They sell a false dream. In fact, in many cases these companies aren't even informing people of the business or selling a product as much as they are selling a false dream. They get people to believe that there is wealth to be gained and if you join XYZ company you can have fancy cars, big homes, etc. Really what businesses like this are saying is, "If you join our business you can get rich and once you get rich you will have meaning and purpose because you'll have money and possessions." People buy into the illusion and join the business based on a false hope. Granted, a few people do join the business and do end up making lots of money. Once this happens these companies put those people on the pedestal so everyone can see the toys these people have accumulated. They become poster children promoting a life of materialism. The underlying problem with this is that these companies are teaching people to be self-centered and as a result they never help people find meaning and purpose.
Vendor House is different. Sure. We talk about the business and the income opportunity. However, we believe that when you are blessed it is important to be a blessing. We have a more holistic approach to life. Vendor House understands that money doesn't bring meaning and purpose but that it is only a tool to be used to bless others. We don't sell a dream. We cast our vision and inform people of our business model. There's a big difference. We're up front with people and hide nothing. We let people know that this business will take work. If you don't work you won't earn commissions. In other words, you will reap what you sow. We don't ask others to join us out of the hype we try to create. The truth is that not everyone who joins Vendor House will make lots of money. The potential is certainly there for people to make good money but the reality is that some people may only make $300 or $500 a month. However, that is enough to change someone's life. We want people who have evaluated the business, really believe in what we are doing, and have an entrepreneur spirit.
VH: What has the response been from those that you have shared the Vendor House opportunity with?
JC: The response has been great! For some the answer has been "no" for others the answer has been "not yet" and for others the answer has been "yes". However, I have never had someone look at what we are doing and say, "What a terrible idea". Everyone I have shared Vendor House with realizes this makes sense and they see the incredible opportunity. Of course. Not everyone I share this with will join us. However, I have received tremendous confirmation even by those who have not gotten started because they have all affirmed the potential and possibilities of what we are doing.
VH: Anything else that you would like to share with the Vendor House community?
JC: Vendor House is a tremendous company and a great opportunity. All we ask is for people to look at what we are doing and make an informed decision. If you are apprehensive or not sure then my advice is that you just stand back and watch us. We aren't going anywhere. Watch what we do over the next several months.
VH: Thanks for your time John and congratulations once again. We pray that you continue to have much success and reach your goals in your Vendor House business.
